Beat Ya Feet Community Celebration

Slush Day
Description
Beat Ya Feet is a dance art form that originated in Washington, DC.
It is deeply rooted in the city’s culture and is typically performed to go-go music—a percussion-driven, rhythmic genre popularized by local DC bands.
Over time, Beat Ya Feet has evolved through the creativity and innovation of the District’s homegrown talent.
Slush Day is an annual celebration honoring Marvin "Slush" Taylor, the founding father of Beat Ya Feet.
It brings together community members to dance, connect, and celebrate the dance style’s legacy.
A vibrant expression of cultural sharing, the event bridges many generations together.
